Where One Goes by B N Toler

“Moments come and go, quick flickers in time. Yet those moments can have the profoundest impact on our lives. Either we seize the, and wield them to our needs, or we let them go.” Don’t let this book go… I’m not a reader of paranormal romance but when I read the synopsis for Where One Goes and added in the fact that the last B N Toler book I read was astounding, I really wanted to try this. So not disappointed! Not for a second, this author has brought me to my knees twice now. Whilst this didn’t quite have the level of emotional turbulence that The Wrecking Ball gave me it still held its own and had me a gooey mess by book end. Beautifully written with a flair that Brandy quite simply owns, this book is nothing short of soul shifting. It makes you a believer. A believer in so many things. And right off the bat you know you’re going to get some absolutely beautifully written literature that is going to make you swoon. There are some very dark themes addressed in this story and perhaps some triggers so be mindful of that before you read. The subjects are dealt with amazing sensitivity and you can do nothing but allow these characters and their demons into your heart. The emotions throughout are intense and stay with you, whilst there is so much sadness in this novel there are also some wonderfully crafted moments of love and joy. There is no way you cannot fall head over heels in love with all the main players and not just Ike, George and Charlotte. The character development is spot on and richly rewarding to read. The descriptiveness of some scenes just draw you in so far that at times you forget where you are, you think you are right there within the pages of their story. You know how the story is ending but it still grips you, wraps its fingers around your heart. You’re rooting for them all despite the inevitability and it punches you really hard when that time comes. That, to me, is the mark of a truly extraordinary writer. To be able to deliver that punch with impact even though one knows it’s coming, beautiful! I’ve had a wee peek at the reviews coming in for Where One Goes and they are so deserved, but you know what I’m so happy about? The fact that this book is being read by people that haven’t picked up Brandy’s work before and they love it. You’re going to get a lot of new fans with this one! This novel screams originality and uniqueness in terms of something different, sure we may have read the plot somewhere else but I don’t think I’ve seen the spin that Brandy has put on it before. Team that with the writing, characters and emotion then you have yourself a very well deserved 5 star read. Loved it!!
