★★★★★ 5 stars With Melissa Collins you just know you are going to get a book that is going to suck you in and be oh so very enjoyable. Repaired is absolutely no exception. I love the M/M genre, there’s just something about it that I gravitate towards. Add this author and I’m all in. This was a 5 star read for me and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Liam Davis stole my heart as a scrawny 17 year old just trying to survive after running away from a horrendous home life. I took a little warming up to Parker but I got there eventually with him, my sympathies lay with both main characters. Melissa wrote them beautifully. Her character depth was fantastic and I found myself with a really good picture in my head of how these guys were. I have to mention that I was surprised at the roles. I really did expect Liam to be the more alpha/dominant of the two so when it turns out that Parker has that edge to him I really fell for them both all that more. Really, the way the author describes Liam running from his past and Parker running from his future, she couldn’t have described it any better. They meet somewhere in the middle. The relationship isn’t really that rocky, it’s more about the trust and coming to terms with how their lives are, with and without each other. About moving forward together. About accepting oneself. The subject matter involved in this novel is really quite a lot to stomach but I felt the author dealt with it in an extremely mature and compassionate manner. I really liked the Lupus angle too, it’s not such a common thing but it resonated with me as I have a friend who has Lupus and recently had a baby. I remember her pregnancy being a fraught time. Melissa had her facts right there! The secondary characters add a great dimension to this story, bringing in the family angle, it would be interesting maybe to see Gabe’s story although I’m not sure if he would have so much to offer as Liam. This is so beautiful, and wonderfully written. I read it in one go and got thoroughly lost in the pages. I felt a bit of Liar Liar humour in here and I had a few laugh out loud moments. But it’s chocked full of emotion, as Melissa Collins books usually are. Keep a tissue or two handy as you might need them. Highly recommended! Favourite quote - “We’d never know how our past would affect our future. We’d never know how today would tumble on into tomorrow. All we could ever do is hold on tight and have faith that somehow it would all work out the way it’s supposed to.”
